Remembering a colossus
Listen and celebrate the memory of Booker T. Washington
On Booker T. Washington’s 150th birth
anniversary Legacy Audio Books releases a reading of Washington’s
autobiography to honor his memory.
To honor the memory of Booker T. Washington, one of the most
important emancipated African Americans, Legacy Audio Books
has released an audio book of Washington’s autobiography,
“Up From Slavery.”
The core of Washington’s work was dedicated to educating
disenfranchised Blacks in the South and finding ways to unify
people of all races. “Our audio book of ‘Up From
Slavery’ will give listeners a wonderful, accurate account
of Washington’s life.”
Born into slavery in the deep south of the United States, Washington
emerged as one of the 19th century’s most recognized leaders,
orators and educators. His life and work remains a source of
inspiration not only for African Americans but also for all
Americans. “Up From Slavery” reflects the thoughts
of this great man, who went on to establish one of the most
important schools for African Americans in the south, the Tuskegee
Industrial Institute.
In the impassioned delivery of Barnes, the “Up From Slavery”
audio book brings Washington alive to listeners and drives home
the “gems of wisdom” that he scatters throughout
his book. “Up From Slavery” is part of Legacy Audio
Books’ mission to produce high quality audio books of
primarily, but not exclusively, prominent historical figures.
“We seek to honor literary works of great people, and
by delivering outstanding vocal performances, to generate renewed
interest in the authors' message,” says Barnes. “Our
audio book of ‘Up From Slavery’ will be sure to
spur more people to remember one of the most remarkable men
of this nation, Booker T. Washington, on his 150th birth anniversary
and beyond.”
